Wicked Plants:
The Exhibit

This traveling exhibition gave visitors an interactive experience with some of the world’s most deadly plants.

Inspired by author Amy Stewart’s best-selling book Wicked Plants: The Weed that Killed Lincoln’s Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities,” (Algonquin Press, New York, N.Y. © 2009), this fun-filled, family-friendly traveling exhibition gave visitors a safe, hands-on experience with some of the world’s most diabolical botanicals. Thought-provoking and educational, Wicked Plants showcased plants associated with myriad health effects, including pain, addiction, obesity, allergies, cognitive impairment, and even death!

Two and three-dimensional interactives filled a Victorian-era ramshackle home, where visitors traveled from room to room and learned about various poisonous plants lurking in their homes and backyards. The exhibition brought together history, medicine, science, legend, and lore to present a treasure trove of bloodcurdling botany that entertained, alarmed, and enlightened.
