HOCKEY:
Faster Than Ever

HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever explores the science behind ice hockey.

Technology, physics, and other topics highlight the advances of the sport over time and show that science is found everywhere in hockey.

Diversity is incorporated as a sub-theme to explore how hockey is a sport for everyone to enjoy.

Innovative displays – like a captivating locker room – present historical objects, artifacts, and state-of-the-art equipment.

Visitors are guided from the locker room through a media-rich tunnel to a ‘Hockey Science Lab’ where they can experiment with hands-on interactives in a rink-style area. Interactive experiences and challenges demonstrate fun and engaging scientific concepts for all ages.

Key Interactives

  • Reaction Time – how many lights can you hit in one minute?

  • Slapshot Speed – what’s your highest speed in three shots?

  • How many targets can your puck hit in 30 seconds?

  • Stanley Cup touchscreen.

  • Education cart developed by the Montréal Science Centre, with multiple fun activities and games for all ages!

Key Objects

  •  Snap a selfie on a Zamboni ice resurfacer

  • 19th and 20th-century skates and gear

  • Displays showing the evolution of protective gear

  • Display lockers outfitted with jerseys and current gear of NHL stars
