Discovery Place, a science education hub of four museums in North Carolina, enlisted Flying Fish to create a dynamic experience in the lead-up to its annual gala in 2017. For the science center?s 70th Anniversary gala in 2018, leadership saw an opportunity to connect with its donors and VIPs. Discovery Place envisioned a theatrical event, one that would capture guests’ attention and communicate its mission to donors. After consulting with the team at Discovery Place to understand the event?s creative goals, Flying Fish got to work designing, producing, and fabricating a sensorial immersive experience. The final product was several large format immersive projection galleries with an integrated motion graphics presentation and a 5,000 sq ft Mars colony.
Guests were able to explore the galleries, interact with the Mars colony, and learn about the history of Discovery Place. Using projection mapping, interactive displays, and custom-designed environments, Flying Fish helped Discovery Place create a mesmerizing environment for an unforgettable event, as well as showcase its scientific accomplishments and achievements, all while engaging donors and VIPs in a meaningful way. The success of this event demonstrates the impact that immersive experiences have engaging audiences and furthering the mission of an organization.
